I was once told that my interests in psychology, medicine, and East Asian studies had little in common. Through personalised mentorship, I discovered medical anthropology and spent six months exploring women's health and reproduction across Japan, Korea, and China. From field research to presentations in Canada, Japan, and Cambridge, the journey transformed scattered interests into a clear intellectual direction. It ultimately led to a scholarship opportunity at University of Cambridge—but more importantly, it helped me discover a question worth dedicating myself to pursuing.

I began as a music student at one of Europe's leading conservatoires, uncertain whether I was pursuing my own ambitions or those of others. Through personalised mentorship, I discovered that my true interests lay in sociology and politics, and that music had simply been my first lens for understanding society. From conferences across Singapore, Dubai, and the United Kingdom to designing an academic journey that embraced intellectual exploration, Le Grand Tour helped me find a lifelong passion for research, writing, and dialogue. It gave me the confidence to follow a path that was genuinely my own.

Starting in high school, I worked with personal mentors in Oxford, where private tutorials in art history transformed a curiosity into a serious intellectual pursuit. The mentor then guided me to Japan, where I conducted my first independent research project, which later led to presenting my work at a leading academic conference in the US. Across New York and Boston, I explored how art, collections, and material culture shape our understanding of the world. Private visits to Christie's further opened my eyes to the world behind cultural institutions. What is far more valuable is the clarity to define my academic path and the confidence to pursue postgraduate study at the Royal College of Art.
